How To Make And Modify Boot Animations
When you power on your phone or reboot it, then after your phone's name flashing on it , a pattern or design forms on the screen after which your phone wakes up. The pattern or design that forms is called a boot animation. Every android phone out there has a boot animation (unless you disable it; will be discussed in the last section). It is present in system/media of your phone. Most of the stock boot animations are boring. But it is Androiders' nature to get rid of boring and useless things (in this case stock boot animations). So lets just get to the point and learn how to create, edit and disable boot animations.
Parts of a boot animation
For your convenience, I have uploaded the Cyanogenmod boot animation here. I have resized the images, so they are somewhat weird - looking. So,first of all just open up desc.txt which should look like the following(not exact) :
1. The resolution of the images and the device it is supposed to be installed on.
2. The fps i.e. the no. of frames displayed per second.
3. Names of the folders which contain the boot animation as .png files.
4. They represent the starting of a new line.
5. Specify how many times this section of the boot animation plays ( 0 means infinite). 6. Specifies the time(in seconds) the boot animation will pause for repeating or moving on to the next line

How To Edit Boot Animations
Editing a boot animation is very easy, unless you want to change it totally. I only edit boot animations to make them compatible with my device. Here's how to do it :
1. Find your device's resolution .
2. Download Free Image Converter or you can use any other image resizer tool you like. Just advance convert all the images in part0, part1 and all those folders (set imge quality to 100 and use exact size.
3. Edit the desc.txt to match your resolution.

How To Create A Boot Animation
1. Install winzip or 7zip and some photo editing software .
2. Create a new zip file and name it bootanimation.zip
3. Create a new folder in it called part0.
4. In the folder part0 , create a new black image the size same as your device's resolution. Now paste whatever image you want on this image and set the opacity to 0 %. Save the image as image00.png .
5. Now increase the opacity a bit , maybe 8%. Save this image as image01.png . Now keep increasing the opacity in the same manner and save as image02.png , image03.png and so on till the opacity reaches 100%.
6. Create a new .txt file in the bootanimation.zip and name it desc.txt and edit it suitably (you can take help from the screenshot given a few sections above).
7. Now you have a basic boot animation . Place it in your device's system/media to activate it (backup the previous bootanimation).

How To Disable Boot Animation
The boot time can be decreased by disabling it. Here's how to do it(arranged according to preference):
Many apps out there can do it. These include Boot Animations Root , Pimp My Rom and others.
OR
You can delete the bootanimation.zip or rename it as bootanimation.zip.bak
OR
Open buid.prop in /system of your device and look for 'debug.sf.nobootanimation = 0' and change the value to 1. If it is not there, add it yourself at the bottom 'debug.sf.nobootanimation = 1'.
